Frequently Asked Questions

What concrete should I use?
As a general guide, use RC25/30 for garage bases and driveways, also PAV 1 for enhanced freeze/thaw resistance for your driveway.

For footings, use Gen3 for single-storey foundations and RC28/35 for double-storey foundations.
For mass fill applications, use Gen 1 concrete.

There are a multitude of different mixes for the many applications that arise – please call us and we can advise.
How long do you stay on site?
30 minutes waiting time is included free with your delivery. Further time can be allocated if required.
What if it rains?
You need to take precautions if it’s raining. The rain can pock-mark the surface of the concrete and leave a friable, dusty or sandy finish. You can book your order provisionally and advise on the day if you need it.
What about cold conditions?
In cold conditions, it is not advisable to lay concrete below 2 degrees Celsius.

Do not pour concrete over or into frozen substrate.

If the temperature is likely to drop overnight after you have laid concrete, then take precautions such as covering with boards/insulation etc.
What about hot conditions?
Above 25 degrees Celsius, the surface of the concrete can dry out too quickly and this will cause cracking of the surface.

Use a spray on curing compound or wait until it’s a little cooler.

Hot weather and a drying wind are not concrete’s friends.
How many barrow loads to 1m3?
Approximately 24.
Do you offer a barrowing service?
Sorry, but we do not offer this option. Please check our concrete pumping services.
How big are the trucks?
2.8m / 9’2” wide and 3.65m/12’0” high.
What does BSi certification mean?
This is a certification scheme in the UK which means that you can buy your concrete with confidence. The materials we use to manufacture your concrete as well as the final product itself are produced to British Standards, requiring checks, balances and testing to be in place so that the concrete conforms to BS8500, the complimentary standard to the overall European standard, EN206.
What does C28/35 or C16/20 or C25/30 mean?
This means that the designed crushing strength of the concrete is (for C28/35 for example) 35N Newtons or 35 MPa /mm2. The “28” relates to European strength testing, where cylindrical test specimens are used, rather than cubes (as in the UK), and these show a slightly lower strength due to the mechanics of size and shape.
Do you do 10mm aggregate?
Yes – ask for this when you order.
Do you make coloured concrete?
We can direct you to a coloured pigment provider, who will deliver your order to us and we will add this to the concrete for you. We can discuss this with you when you call.
How can I pay?
By debit/credit card, cash or bank transfer.

We do not currently offer Apple Pay or PayPal.
